Turning Crafting into Cash
by Stephanie Mickle, Founder of The Nest Egg for Ladies

Ladies, no matter whether you are single or married or if your spouse is the breadwinner or not, it never hurts to have a little extra money coming into your household. This is money that can be used to spoil grandchildren, enjoy the occasional splurge, or contribute to important causes.

Crafting is one such interest. Once you have created a unique craft treasure that you enjoy and are pleased with, why not sell it?  Someone else may just enjoy it too, enough to pay cash. In addition to bringing that person joy, some of the benefits of selling a unique craft treasure include being able to recover the costs spent to purchase the materials, and being able to assign a value to the time that you spent creating the treasure?

What do you have to lose?  Let’s say that you make $15/month by selling a couple of items. That easily adds up to $180 a year.  Think of what you could do with an extra $180? Purchase gifts, pay for piano lessons, save towards a family goal. You get the picture.

What if nothing sells during one month?  In that instance, you can continue to enjoy the unique craft treasure that you created. Who knows, there may be a community event the following month and you may be able to sell it there or online. And if you are considering the next big step of becoming an online shop owner, this is a great way to start small and test the water, so to speak.

Whether single or married, grand parenting, parenting, childless, or preparing to start a family, when a woman creatively uses something that she already enjoys, i.e. crafting unique treasures, to create additional income for her family, everybody wins.  Take a risk. It’s worth it.
